Your Credit Dispute Came Back Verified. Now What?

September 11, 2026 - by Credit Climb editorial - 4 min read

Verified does not explain whether the reporting is correct. Read the result, compare the evidence, and choose the next factual step.

Read the exact outcome

A result may say verified, updated, deleted, or that the dispute lacked enough information. Compare the new report to the old one field by field.

Ask for the procedure

Federal law lets you request a description of the procedure used to determine accuracy and completeness, including business contact information when reasonably available.

Correct the record

If you have new relevant evidence, send it in a focused follow-up. If the problem is identity theft, use the identity-theft block process rather than endlessly repeating a normal dispute.

Escalation paths

You can submit a CFPB complaint after first disputing and waiting until the dispute is no longer pending. Legal help may fit cases involving measurable harm or persistent mixed files.
